✨ How to Prepare for Your Dog’s Photo Session
Getting ready for your session doesn’t have to be stressful – a little preparation goes a long way in making the experience fun and relaxed for both you and your dog. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of our time together:
🐾 1. Grooming & Cleanliness
Give your dog a quick brush before the session to keep their coat looking its best.
Wipe their face and eyes if needed, especially for breeds prone to tear stains.
A bath is optional, but a clean, fresh dog always photographs beautifully.
🍖 2. Treats & Rewards
Bring your dog’s favourite treats – small, bite-sized ones work best.
If your dog is food-motivated, avoid feeding a big meal right before the shoot so they stay interested.
Toys are also welcome – a squeaky toy or ball can help capture attention and energy.
🦴 3. Exercise Before the Session
A short walk or some playtime beforehand helps take the edge off extra energy.
Avoid tiring your dog out completely – we want them happy and relaxed, not exhausted.
👩👩👧 4. Your Role as the Owner
Stay calm and positive – dogs pick up on our emotions.
Be ready to interact with your dog during the session: calling their name, giving treats, playing.
If your dog is nervous, your presence and reassurance will help them feel safe.
👗 5. What to Bring
Collar and lead (even if you usually let them off, some locations may require it).
Water and a portable bowl, especially on warmer days.
A blanket or accessory if you’d like them included in the photos.
📍 6. Location & Timing
Arrive a few minutes early so your dog can sniff around and settle in.
Think about the weather – cooler times of day often work best for comfort and light.
💡 Final Tip
Don’t worry if your dog isn’t perfectly trained – the best photos often come from natural, spontaneous moments. My priority is your dog’s comfort, safety and personality shining through.
